I’m delighted to hear the news that two of my local restaurants have been shortlisted in the 2015 Free From Eating Out Awards! Both Flaming Cow and it’s sister restaurant, Fishcraft, have made the short list in the second year of the awards.
Both have excellent gluten free offerings, and have been very accommodating with my daughter’s milk allergy – we’re very lucky to have two great independent options on our doorstep who really care about serving good food to diners with special dietary requirements. You can read my previous reviews of each restaurant here:
They are up against a wide variety of outlets, including a large conference centre, local community cafés and national chains. To quote awards director, Michelle Berriedale-Johnson:
‘It is great to see how many outlets from all across the country have now got their heads around the new allergen regulations and are already creating exciting, innovative and super healthy ‘freefrom’ menus. From the local chippie to the five star restaurant or the high street chain, coeliacs and those with allergies and intolerances do now stand a realistic chance of being served not only a safe, but a really tasting and interesting meal.’
Best of luck to these Windsor (ok, Eton) restaurants. May they be rewarded with a steady stream of loyal diners! I, for one, will be visiting Fishcraft with my local coeliac group tomorrow for their crispy gluten free beer-battered fish ‘n’ chips. Hooray!
