Now three branches strong, the Hummus Bros eatery wins prizes not only for it’s marvellously coeliac-friendly menu, but it’s social mediability with free wifi, a set up on Twitter, Four Square and Facebook. This was a restaurant with me written all over it.
The small menu (also available online) has gluten free options marked, and gluten free pitta breads offered (or tortilla chips as an alternative). The hummus is creamy and rich (obviously heavy on the tahini) and just the way i like it. I had a small portion topped with chicken as well as a few sides, and wow it was filling.
Once again excited to find desserts I am allowed to eat, i tucked into a Malabi- a sort of middle eastern take on a pannacotta with date syrup. This was yummy, but a little well-set for my liking. I also had the option of a chocolate brownie. I washed it down with a fresh mint tea. The only criticism is that this arrived with the mint stalks in the glass and no filter, meaning a short mint fishing expedition before I could drink it.
This branch of Hummus Bros is small and busy, with only 4 shared tables you might expect to queue, but I heartily recommend it for a short, friendly, affordable meal.
